I've been a photographer for as long as I can remember and it has been one of the most fantastic and challenging endeavors I have ever undertaken.  Photography as a trade however really took hold during my high school years on Long Island, New York where I had the opportunity to help the school transition from 35mm to digital format.  During that time I worked with studio lighting, Photoshop and other equipment I could not afford at the time.  Working with the school, I was sent everywhere there was publicity to be had - sports games, club trips - even France!  It was an outstanding experience to say the least.
During college I began volunteering on the ambulance as an Emergency Medical Technician which gave me a unique insight into humanity, but most importantly for a college student in his early twenties, it gave me perspective.  I hold perspective, be it in composing a landscape or negotiating a contract, in utmost regard because it defines how we interpret the world and ultimately, who we are.
A few years, and several moves, after college I joined a volunteer fire department and took on the role of interior firefighter and EMT.  It was great getting to work with the various emergency services.  Suffice it to say that nothing photographs like a big red shiny ladder truck on a sunny day.
My interests in photography are pretty expansive and, really, only limited by what I can afford.  I love gadgets - anything I can connect to my Canon 5D Mk III, I will.  I really like long, dramatic night exposures especially if infrared photography is somehow involved.  I rescued a two year old Siberian Husky named Kodi in 2013 so naturally he is my favorite subject matter to shoot.  It helps when it's hard to take a bad picture of such a beautiful dog!
We are currently taking contracts so if you have a photographic, PR or print media need please feel free to give us a call to see how we can uniquely help you or your business.
Thanks for your interest in Photography by Matthew Palmeri - I look forward to working together!
